About Ron Brown
I decided to launch aperfectlygoodlife.com out of respect for Jane’s incredible wisdom, and the understanding that the Internet can be used to disseminate it to a wider audience than only to those who are lucky enough to find her through a word-of-mouth referral. Jane is a gifted psychoanalyst who, for the past 29 years, has helped her patients live happier, more productive, and more fulfilling lives. She has never advertised, never promoted herself, never written a single article. For the most part, she’s happy simply doing the work, behind closed doors, one person at a time. She transforms the lives of her patients – they know it, and she knows it, and that is the ultimate reward.
Recently, however, when we discuss issues related to her work, she has started to say things, like, “wouldn’t that make a interesting article?” I, of course, always encourage her to write, but she is very clear in her desire not about to embark on a new career. My work as a writer and independent filmmaker has made me no stranger to the Internet, and the blogging phenomenon obviously caught my attention. When I realized I could help Jane create a blog to speak to the world, I became very excited. I am proud of her, and I know she has a lot to say.
I am making myself a contributor this site because there are some things I am going to want to say, on my own. I am certainly no expert in the area of psychoanalysis, and have no legitimate platform from which to espouse my ideas. But, I am not going to shy away from giving them. Frequently, Jane and I will agree about things; perhaps, there will be times when we disagree. (You, discerning reader, can choose what you want to pay attention to. Just remember, my advice is worth what you’re paying for it. Jane’s is priceless.) I offer the layman’s, the husband’s, the father’s point of view. It comes from living 50 years, from loving the same woman for 21 years, and from fathering two children who make me proud of who they are every day. Come to think of it, I think that’s a pretty good platform for offering up some advice about how to live a perfectly good life!
I will also be the one pulling in other people’s wisdom about life, and how to live it, from as many sources as I can find. I welcome your contributions. Please feel free to contact us, any time.
